An existing barn and stables are converted into a house with two courtyards. A new connection between the two buildings and a series of suspended rooms are made from pre-fabricated, structural wood panels, and are inserted within the existing walls. The angular forms of the insertions are carefully articulated to heighten the play of sunlight within the building, accentuating the contrast between the wood insertions and the rough stone walls. The project responds to an ambitious ecological program, including the use of quality, untreated building materials and a bio-dynamic heating system using the earth around the house as a heat sink.

Ce projet est la conversion d'une grange et une étable en une maison avec deux cours. La connexion entre les bâtiments existants et une série de pieces suspendues sont fabriquées entierement a partir des panneaux structurels préfabriqués en bois, et sont insérées entre les murs existants. Les formes angulaires des insertions s'articulent pour accentuer le jeu de lumiere naturelle dans le bâtiment, et mettent en valeur le contraste entre le bois et les anciens murs en pierre. Le projet répond a un programme écologique ambitieux, comprenant l'utilisation des matériaux pérennes non traités et un chauffage par pompe a chaleur géothermique, utilisant la terre autour des bâtiments.
