PROJECT: Visitor’s centre for Lund’s cathedral

The project is delicately inserted into the urban fabric such that it defines a park facing the cathedral and creates a series of courtyards between the other existing buildings. The courtyards open onto the main street with a façade of laser-cut stainless steel panels under a row of existing Chestnut trees. Cloistered passageways lead to the café, the library in an existing building, the tourist office, and an exhibition building with presentations about the city and the cathedral.

Le projet s’insère délicatement dans le tissu urbain pour à la fois recadrer le parc face à la cathédrale et créer une série de cours intérieures entre les autres bâtiments existants. Les cours s’ouvrent sur la rue principale avec une façade en panneaux d’inox découpé, sous des grands châtaigniers existants. Un système de déambulatoires mène au café, à la librairie religieuse dans un bâtiment existant, à un office de tourisme et à un bâtiment d’exposition sur la cathédrale et la ville historique.
